A paper recommended and approved by the IEEE Power System Relaying Committe of the IEEE Power Engineering Society for Presentation at the IEEE PES Summer Meeting, Minneapolies, Minnesota, july 13-18, 1980. |
| Abstract: | The paper describes a microprocessor based equipment for monitoring the power system frequency and carrying out phased load shedding and restoration. The effects of frequency decay rate and circuit breaker clearing time have been incorporated to obtain final circuits clearing at a fixed present frequency level. The procedure for selecting various frequency settings and their coordination has been discussed. Immunity against noise and suprious spikes is provided by external as well as software filtering. The equipment has been laboratory tested under simulated conditions. |
