Abstract: A microprocessor based method developed for testing energy meters is reported here. The speeds of the test meter and a rotary substandards are transduced into electric pulse rates. The number of pulse from the test meter corresponding to a preplanned number of pulse from the substandard meter are counted by the microprocessor which then computers the error and makes the same available to the test engineer. The microprocessor reduces the electronic hardware and its development time and also increases the degree of automation and flexibility in the testing.
